2021-11-05

1 and 3 watt LED Bead Technical and Optical Specifications

The LED Bead is the fundamental element of a high-power LED module. The Bead design is for mounting to a heat-conducting surface to draw away excess heat from the LED. See our complete assortment of LED Bead aluminum base plates, heatsinks, and accessories.

LED Beads are available in 1 and 3-watt models in assorted colors and specialty models for ultraviolet and infrared applications. Additional accessories such as lens assemblies are available to focus the output light depending on your requirements or high-power current drivers in various models.

The LED Bead is a cost-efficient option for pre-assembled LED modules, where you can solder the LED to an aluminum base plate of your choice. We carry a diverse selection of base plates holding from one to six individual LED Beads.

The bottom of the LED Bead contains a metal tab. designed to be placed onto a heat-transferring material (heatsink). The heatsink can range from STAR LED Carrier Board, to a Heatsink Platform or to a carrier board that holds several LEDs. Between the LED and the heatsink, ensure there is Thermal Heatsink Compound or Thermal Heatsink Adhesive allowing heat to transfer efficiently between the LED Bead and the heatsink material and is essential in the operation of a LED Bead.
